LETTERPRESS WORKSHOPS CRAFTED FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO ROLL UP THEIR SLEEVES.
We developed our letterpress workshops with valuable help from people like you. People who want to explore this amazing technology that shaped politics, science and culture. People who want to share in the process of letterpress, make beautiful prints and get their hands dirty – all while having a great time.
Our workshops are designed for up to six people, so you can team up with your studio or join up with friends for a day of creativity, collaboration and experimentation in our inky Brunswick East studio.
Slow down for the day, print on our incredible antique machinery and take home a set of posters or notebooks that you will letterpress print yourself.
Wood Type Poster Edition Workshop
Explore our antique collection of wood type and create your own compositions, manifestos or overprinting experiments on our hand-fed press.
- Create 100 wood type letterpress posters

During this letterpress workshop we’ll guide you through setting up and letterpress printing wood type on our hand-fed Asbern Proof Press, circa 1960.
- Letterpress print up to 100 prints
- One or two Pantone colours
- Size: 350 x 500mm (or smaller)
- Paper: Wild 300gsm (35% cotton)
Participants: Up to 6 people
Time: 3–4 hours
Day: Weekdays preferred, weekends subject to availability.

Modern Letterpress Poster Edition Workshop
Create your own limited edition letterpress prints with a modern twist. We will create a plate from your artwork and we’ll letterpress print the posters together.

During this workshop we’ll guide you through setting up and letterpress printing modern polymer plates on our hand-fed Asbern Proof Press, circa 1960.

- One Pantone colour
- Artwork size: 330 x 482mm (one kind of artwork per workshop)
- Paper size: 350 x 500mm (or smaller)

Custom Letterpress Notebook Workshop
Create your own limited edition notebooks with covers letterpress printed in wood type or your own artwork.
- Create 60 custom notebooks
- Cost: $2,730+gst (in total, for up to 6 people)
In this workshop, we’ll letterpress print the covers together on either our hand-fed Asbern Proof Press, circa 1960, or our hand-fed and foot-treadled Chandler & Price, which over 100 years old. Then you’ll collate the notebooks with the internal pages while we sew and cut the notebooks to size. You’ll finish off the notebooks on our round cornering machine.

- Cover letterpress printed in one Pantone colour
- Notebook size: 130 x 185mm (finished)
- Cover paper: Colorplan 270gsm (colour TBC)
- Internal paper: Revive Laser 100gsm (100% recycled post-consumer waste, carbon neutral and Australian made) with offset printed dots, lines or blank

Linocut & Letterpress Workshop
This beginner friendly workshop will introduce you to the craft of linocut and letterpress printing techniques.
You’ll carve an ‘Illuminated Letter’ of your choosing and letterpress print it in two colors using a reduction technique.
No linocut, design or print experience is necessary, this workshop is created for beginners who have a keen interest in the world of typography, linocutting and letterpress printing.
During the first day of the workshop we will explore different design options, walk through how to transfer your design to the lino and begin carving.
Once your carving is finished, we’ll guide you through setting up and letterpress printing the first colour on our hundred year old Chandler & Price printing presses.
